The Show: Dial C for Chocolate
The Location: Two Rivers Convention Center, Grand Junction, Colorado
The Audience: Girl Scouts of Chipeta Council

Elegant
We returned to Grand Junction this year for our 9th annual fundraiser for the Girl Scouts. The Council suggested the title, Dial C For Chocolate, and the era of the 40's, so we re-wrote an existing script to give it a completely new setting. Everyone came dressed in the styles of the WWII era (or approximations of them) and had a great time, as evidenced by the their invitation to return next year for a 10th annual show.

Glittering
She comes at you with a sexy, swinging walk that somehow carries the force of a locomotive. She locks her eyes on you and you feel an imminent collision. And then you think, maybe a collision wouldn't be so bad...
Heidi's Mom made a knockout costume for the show.

Cast: Lynn Wheeler, Don Moon, Heidi Link, Corey Schmidt, Star Edgington, Matt Launsby, Nadine Keaney, Mike Stevens

The Show: Murder On Location
The Location: Royal Gorge, Colorado
The Audience: RGRR Train Passengers
Waiting
Waiting for the train is a good time to review scripts, go over lines, and finish costumes.
It's also a time for introspection...

... and exhibition.

It's a time for solidarity...
... and daring.
Welcoming
Char Malone, the Head of Wardrobe at Miracle Studios, and Otto Van Graff, the Director, greet arriving passengers...
... as does Mel Grimm, the Producer.

What A Customer Sees
Bruce Balliet of Pinkard Construction in Denver was aboard that night. He writes, "Had a wonderful time on the Royal Gorge Route dinner train, Saturday, October 7th . We were the crazy group at the back half of the dinner car... This was part of a customer appreciation weekend and the group had a great time. " Bruce took the photo at left and the next 6. Thanks, Bruce.

- Scene 4

Ladies and Gentlemen! The good news is, Mel Grimm is dead! The bad news is, you have to help me solve his murder! - Sheriff Julian Lobo

After I'm dead (having been murdered in the play) I usually have a bit of time to kill (so to speak). That's when I like to roam, ghost-like, around the train and enjoy the spooky sights, plus a few that remind me how good life can be.
Hanging Bridge, built around 1898, glows in the side lights from the train.

The Arkansas River, which has been carving the Gorge for thousands of years, flows on.

The breathtaking Dome Car seems almost deserted, as though the passengers had been lured away by some mysterious force...

... which might be the Moon, full tonight but covered by thin clouds. The clouds help retain the warmth of the day...

... making it a perfect evening for romance.
